The Male Gaze

What are peoples thoughts on the male gaze?

I'm going to be doing a photography project based on the public's opinion of the male gaze and how women are portrayed in today's society. I know that a lot of girls feel pressured to be attractive and thin to feel comfortable or to fit in, in today's society.  I've noticed a lot of negative attention in the media on how women are portrayed. Especially in adverts, especially in beer, football and car adverts, women are portrayed negatively and are seen just as objects. It is really important that I get some kind of feedback, the more feedback I get, the more work I can create for an upcoming exhibition. Please e-mail me, Emmalouiselavender@hotmail.co.uk

Vibrant Speed

These photographs are a series that I produced when I was on a train.  The idea is that when we are on a train we don't consider the imagery around us, we just sit on a train waiting to get from A to B. So I got on a train and took these photographs.  It was quite hard as you don't have time to think, you just shoot and hope you captured the quick scene that flies past.

Some more of my art work that I did in pencil, biro men, acrylic paint.  This work is a build up to my current project in University. 

I spent about an hour on each seperate drawing. They were just quick ideas that I wanted to put on paper.

These sketches mixed with photography are based on the idea of nature and technology and how in todays modern life they share a very close relationship. It's obvious that years and years ago that nature ruled until technology advanced and has taken over.  Technology pushed out nature, and nature struggles to fit in with our modern lives.
